Until I Met You – A Love Poem

Until I Met You – A Love Poem

The world stands still when I gaze
Into your eyes of blue.
Beloved, love was nothing more than
A foolish errand until the day that I met you.
‘Twas like an emerging butterfly
The way you transformed my soul.
Once inched along the ground,
Now fly since you’ve restored me whole.
The hands of time move slower
Each hour that finds us apart.
Your love plays louder each day
Through the chambers of my heart.
In my darkened night you brought
The light that led me on ’til morn’.
For in the beauty of your sight
The veil of darkness was torn.
Be not afraid, for the love
I have for you is true.
Love was nothing more than a dreamer’s desire
Until the day that I met you.

Love’s Wings – A Poem

2374114336_de686e8215

Love’s Wings – A Poem

Imagine my surprise waking to find
My arms covered in feathers – now fully supported wings.
My voice like the sweetness of a sparrow,
Bellowed from a passionate heart that sings.
I flew through the sky with a lightness
My mind and body ever knew.
For love, my burden was lifted
The day that I met you.
The clouds, sky, and heavens
Seemed far within my grasp.
All comprehension of limitation
Was left lying in the past.
You gave my soul the freedom
To soar to heights higher than ever dreamed.
You are the North Star that leads and shines.
You are the queen that reigns supreme.
Eagles have not reached into the sky
As high as I have since finding you.
Heaven’s ceiling on a summer day
Bare not the depths of hue as your eyes of blue.
When I look into your eyes my soul and spirit flies
Into the great, vast cosmic space.
Pain, loneliness, and emptiness are erased without a trace.
You are a gift far greater than I believed
God would ever bring.
For you carry me higher than I ever thought possible
Flying with love’s wings.

Storms – A Love Poem

6763426527_c2538a4daa

Storms – A Love Poem

I am blown by your gale,
Caught up in a tempest
My heart is unable to resist.
Never has it known a love like this
Whose storms of passion
Leave me defenseless.

Your rains hail me from afar,
And the eyes of your storm summon me.
My soul is a lightning rod
For your flashes of electricity –
A static seduction shocking me
With your every touch.

You clutch me in your madness
And soak me in down pours of sexuality,
Leaving me wet and wanting to strip
Off my heavy and soggy clothes.
Your wind blows like a cyclone –
A twister that destroys every defense
In the path to my heart.

You, love, have torn my walls apart.
I stand without shelter
And no longer have the ability
To withstand your weather.
For your beauty has weakened my resistance,
And your thunders have boomed,
Beckoning me to my knees.

My heart sees the looming storm,
But can only wait in delight
As the rain clouds come rolling in.
My heart beats anxiously,
Awaiting our eternal tryst.
For true love has known no stronger force
Than the passion between our kiss.

My Love is an Ocean – A Love Poem

2809039431_53d931f8fe

My Love is an Ocean – A Love Poem

My love is an ocean –
An endless reservoir of new hope
That collects new deposits from tributaries daily.

My heart ebbs and flows
With tides of passion
And you, love, are the moon –
The great gravitational force that wields control.

My waters run deep,
Far beneath the comfortable beauty of coral reefs.
You exist in the darkness miles below.
I will not desert you
In the midst of trial, the abundance of darkness, the absence of light.

It is safe to ride on me.
I will safely guide you back to harbor
And steer you clear of jagged rocks.

My love is an ocean –
An irresistible force that beckons
You who look upon me from the beach.

Strip down naked, bare before me,
And plunge into the soft, refreshing promise
Beneath the surface of my wake.

I am the tide –
The captain of your longings,
The sealer of love’s fate,
Who promises to do whatever it takes
To carry you wherever you must go.

My love is an ocean
That stretches from horizon to horizon .
It is endless, abundant, yet reserved for one.

Love’s Sacred Rite – A Love Poem

5343869097_f12d03d167

Love’s Sacred Rite – A Love Poem

Lie down beneath the moonlight.
Celebrate with me in love’s mystery tonight.
Shake the dust of past experience from your clothes
And lay on me, my dear, your lonely woes.

For I want you and all of you –
Not just the pretty parts past loves knew.
I want to know your every secret, your every pain.
I want nothing in your heart to be left contained.

Let me peel your petals back like a blooming flower,
And let us dive into the suns and storms of life together.
Won’t you take a chance and accept my invitation,
To dive and dance together in life’s celebration?

On your lips lies the deepest yearning of my heart,
For love, I knew you were the one from the very start.
And it’s no longer a want, but a need.
Beauty beckons – I need her like I need to breathe.

Strip down until your heart is bare before me.
Hold nothing back, love, set your insecurities free.
May our souls entwine and exist as one.
May our shadows share a kiss that can never be undone.

And we shall lie beside the candlelight,
You and I united together in love’s sacred rite.
And I vow my heart will my ever true,
For from its first beat it was thinking of you.

Reunion – A Love Poem

16066619851_dd5a7a9636

Reunion – A Love Poem

From the moment your voice
First left your lips I knew you.
I recognized you from my soul’s masquerade,
Dancing across love’s ballroom in dream.
I remembered you from my subconscious longings,
Some pattern painted across my mind
To give me ample warning when you walked through my door.
You have finally arrived,
And I want you by my side forevermore.

It is you and you love only I adore.
It is not enough to be near you;
I want to be in you,
To explore all your hidden chambers
And recesses that hide in the dark.
You are the spark that sets my heart on fire,
The wielder of my desire,
The key that I’ve been searching for
To unlock this strongbox within my breast.
I long to watch the morning dawn
Together in perfect intimacy.
I want to ride through your rolling rivers,
Delight in your vulnerability,
And to lick up your waters when I’m parched of thirst.
I want to love you so hard that it hurts
And always leaves me phenin’ for more.

I am certain I’ve known your heart for centuries.
How else do I explain this mystery, this familiarity,
This comfortability, this friendship
That did not form but was reawoken
Like a sleeping dragon in a cave.
Love, do not be afraid,
For I am the keeper of your heart
That protects its every beat.
I lay my freedom down at your feet
And gladly bind myself in your chains.
I long to do my master’s will
And beauty is her name.

I have missed you.
It has been eons since we last parted,
But this time our plans will not be thwarted.
I will have you, and you I,
Until the end of time.
It took me a moment to remember our memories,
But now they shine brighter than the rays of the sun.
Past has become present.
Our reunion has begun.

A Lover’s Journey – A Love Poem

14836541348_93aefb5bcc

A Lover’s Journey – A Love Poem

If you offer me your hand,
I will follow you
Forever across fields of heather,
Through the pastures of clover,
And down the valley filled with bramble and thorn.
Adorn your brow with freshly picked flowers, love
And let us frolic beneath the sun,
Entwined like creeping vines and becoming one.

Do I dare tear down these walls of security
And stand bare before you,
My soul naked and vulnerable,
Anxiously awaiting your response?
Do you delight in what dangles before you
Or do you remain unmoved and free from the bonds of desire?
Offer me a place to put my spark of passion, love
And I will build a fire
To burn away the dead, dry timber of yesterdays.

Do not be afraid.
For I am the caretaker of your heart,
The one who nestles it within my breast
And guards it like a treasure.
Never will it break or fall apart.
Your eyes are like jewels that hypnotize and gleam,
Reflecting the inner yearnings of my spirit
And promising new things to come.
I long to take this ride across the countryside with you,
To dance beneath summer sun and full moon,
To get lost among the stalks of corn fields
Until we harvest a fertile crop.
Sow me a seed of passion, beloved
And vow that our love will always be enough.

True Love Defined – A Poem

6092382431_c5eb6da6ae

True Love Defined – A Poem

True love doesn’t live in fairy tale castles
Or dwell among happily ever afters,
But breathes between two pairs of eyes,
Acknowledging the wreckage that resides between them,
Vowing that no matter what,
They’ll see each other through,

That as lost as they are,
They’re in this together,
And no matter the cost or weather,
Nothing will keep them apart.
True love doesn’t rely on feelings
But the promise of a heart
Beating back against the resistance of the tide –
Continuously lapping and wearing away patience over time.
True love says that no matter what I’m feeling right now,
No matter what my selfish desires say I deserve,
I choose to keep my promise,
I choose to love and to serve.

We all claim to be searching for love
But do our tongues speak the truth?
Are we willing to do
The actions love requires
Or do we remain too busy,
Too lazy, too selfish, too tired?

True love doesn’t fall
For maybe’s, might be’s, and will be’s
But is fully satisfied with right now’s –
Loving their beloved just as they are
In this very moment,
Spotted, speckled, and blemished.

True love is not a mighty lion,
Roaring with pride through the jungle,
But a beast of burden –
An ass that labors endlessly
And trudges along sacrificing daily
Until the road ends and life’s journey
Across grassy hills and through bare valleys
Is complete.
