Like the Summer Wind – A Poem

I yearn for you like the summer wind –
vast, cool, refreshing upon my cheek;
a shelter to soothe beneath the furnace of life’s heat.

Your character radiates and pierces
through the layers of lust surrounding my heart,
pushing foolish desires aside; shredding selfishness apart.

Your faith is a fortress –
a castle that contains a bounty of beauty;
an unfamiliar treasure invigorating. intriguing me.

Respect reflects from your resolve like an echo –
a lovely sonata to my ears,
finding all the melodies attractive that you hold dear.

Purity has never been pursued by me,
but you make it as arousing as naked flesh.
seductively strutting your sexuality within a soul of righteousness.

Romance flares up; sensuality beckons me
to brush your lips, to feel your kiss.
and have my hands caress and rub out all your loneliness.

You’ve got me on the hunt,
pursuing an prize I’ve never seen –
my bow is strung, my arrow nocked, and aimed for the heart of a queen.

I long for you like stars in a void of black –
hopeful, resilient, a lamplight to guide the way,
and your flames lick at my heart, burning to speak your name.

Growing Pains – A Poem

Growing Pains – A Poem

Why are these dreams that stretch out across my heart’s field of desire,
That glisten Like droplets of drew sparkling on the morning grass,
So hard to obtain, so hard to take to take hold of,
And so hard to lasso and pull close to reality?
The burden is bearing the tragedy of it all,
Knowing what you want, what you need,
Lies just beyond the forest and through the trees,
But you seem unable to put those desires into action.
So often I’m fixated on distractions that pull me off-course,
And get me lost on side paths instead of trekking onward
Towards goals, aspirations, and destinations.
It drives a person mad, carrying around bags of frustrations,
Grueling through labor day after day,
Counting the minutes, knowing there has to be another way.
But the Way is left without footprints, often prepared for
But never ventured and what’s left of hope slowly fades away.
There’s a demon inside of me that seems unable to be controlled,
Scoffing at dreams, content to let life pass me by,
Trampling on schedules, and consistently cursing meaningful causes.
Claws strike out at my fingers each time
I reach out to grasp my true potential.
I now know the paved road to success doesn’t exist.
You must venture through the dense forest,
Fight through the clinging vines, and thrash through the sticks.
No, to journey with intention is no vacation,
And the mess inside me, always attempting to misguide me, is no easy fix.
But the trail to nowhere is covered by countless footprints
And paved with the trampled dreams others have left behind.
The alarm clock beckons.
Wisdom speaks.
My souls shrieks.
But for some reason I have yet to understand,
I hear, but refuse to listen.

Romance’s Introduction – A Poem

Romance’s Introduction – A Poem

Your lustrous eyes draw me in,
Beckon me closer, uninhibited and unafraid;
Allure me to dive into your deep, refreshing sea
Like a moth mesmerized, hypnotized by a flame.

Your curves caress and cause my carnal desires
To flare up in a blaze as a match to gasoline.
Your emotional depth and vulnerability add fuel to the pyre –
A breathtaking bonfire built upon the balance of romance and sexuality.

Feminine longing whispers to my soul
In wisps of wonder like ceremonial incense from across the room.
And I’m dazed to discover my masculinity rousing to respond;
Aspiring to feed your fragrant flower, nurturing and protecting it until it blooms.

Divine delicacy dwindles in distress –
A soul afraid, yet yearning to emerge from the safety of her cocoon.
And I’m entranced by my need to satisfy,
To unveil your wondrous wings and free the beautiful butterfly that is you.

There is no need to tell me what you desire
For your heat radiates like tongues of fire speaking to my heart.
My lady…I know the intimacy you crave, your sensual tidal wave,
And I’m here to tell you I have more than you could ever want.

So unlock your chamber door, undress your distresses,
Drop your defenses, and hand over your hidden and guarded key.
Romanticism is my essence – no more games or guesses –
For my romantic nature is ravished, ready to devour your beauty.

The Siren’s Song – A Poem

SIREN-SONG

The Siren’s Song  – A Poem

Standing in the shadow of sullen memories
My mind rocks, crashes, splashes
Like the roaring waves of the open sea,
Bound within chambers of emotion –
Locked within the prison cell in which my heart has sentenced me.

My heart moans, mounts up upon scattered fragments of possibility
But shatters at the examination of reality.
Working unceasingly to keep this ship afloat,
Patching, plugging leaks that spring up like gales
Sudden and without warning.

But the Siren’s song won’t quit calling,
Stirring up this longing, this yearning to head back to shore
Safe, secure, free from my most triste tempest.
But these promises, these wishes that feast upon my ears,
This music of passion, of love, of hope that I hear…
Can it be trusted?

Is it a foolish venture to believe a Siren?
Do their mouths ever sing words of truth?
Odysseus had bonds of rope to aid him.
I have nothing but a lonely, battered heart
That beats with desperation, drumming a dirge.

Oh, the urge to listen and be drifted away is intoxicating;
It’s spellbinding, overwhelming, capturing.
Mustering up every ounce of discipline
To keep this ship on course – to not stray from my destination.
Eyes wide, fighting to keep determination alive – full steam ahead.

Do Siren’s ever become desperate enough
To venture from the shore, to come out from behind the safety of their rocks?
I’ve trusted too many songs that sounded out in sweet chorus,
But they never refrained from grief. No. It’s time to stay docked upon the sea.
I’ll keep my ears open to the Siren’s song, but never turn to listen
Until the Siren comes to me.

Until I Met You – A Love Poem

Until I Met You – A Love Poem

The world stands still when I gaze
Into your eyes of blue.
Beloved, love was nothing more than
A foolish errand until the day that I met you.
‘Twas like an emerging butterfly
The way you transformed my soul.
Once inched along the ground,
Now fly since you’ve restored me whole.
The hands of time move slower
Each hour that finds us apart.
Your love plays louder each day
Through the chambers of my heart.
In my darkened night you brought
The light that led me on ’til morn’.
For in the beauty of your sight
The veil of darkness was torn.
Be not afraid, for the love
I have for you is true.
Love was nothing more than a dreamer’s desire
Until the day that I met you.
