Always Follow Your Dreams and Believe in Yourself
Part of chasing your dreams relies on you believing in yourself by not just wishing your goals will come true but actually taking steps to bring them into reality. If all we do is “dream” they will likely remain somewhere in the clouds. The longer we wait, the more they fade into nothingness, remaining only as deep regret.
While you can always choose to chase your dreams starting today, no matter how old you are, it’s best to start before we get stuck in the thicket of adulthood where we’re entangled in so many responsibilities that we often lack the space in our life for big goals. When we’re young our opportunities are high and our responsibilities are low which makes it the optimal time to reach for the stars.
A Haiku Poem About Pursuing Your Dreams IN life
Life moves fast. We all have dreams—some are always on our minds and hearts; others wait quietly in the background. But when we wait too long to take any action on our dreams, they go unfulfilled or get lost in the busyness of life. I attempted to capture this idea in this short haiku poem I wrote:

"Unused time is lost,
Swallowed beneath night's dark sea;
Dreams die in silence."

I meant for this poem to be a reminder that if we don’t take action early in life our dreams often fade away and die. The bad news is that the longer we wait, the harder the chase is and the less likely it is that we’ll ever actually pursue our passions. They will likely never become real dreams but mere wishes.
A wish is something we have that relies on magic or some external force will make come true; a dream is something we chase and take defined steps to increase the likelihood that our desired outcome will come true. We call them dreams, but they should be more like well-defined goals.
But here’s the good news: You don’t have to let your dreams slip away. It’s never too late to take action and start building the life you truly want.
Final Thoughts: Your Dreams Are Waiting
Unfortunately, all that used time in your past is lost, buried beneath distractions and procrastination. But you can end that cycle today. You can make a firm decision to scream, “No more!” to the mundane in your life. You can put the first foot forward on the path towards your dreams, following them wherever they lead instead of going along with the status quo-grinding out 40+ hours a week for a slight reprieve before you do it all again.
If you believe in yourself, if you have dreams you firmly believe you were meant to chase, find the courage to go after them. Better to fail doing what you believe in than laying on your deathbed with a lifetime of regret. Because someday never comes…
The choice is yours: Will you take action or let your dreams go unrealized?
Start now. Take the first step—no matter how small. The world needs your gifts.
What’s your dream? What’s one small step you could take today towards it? Let me know in the comments!
