Mountains and Valleys – A Poetic Autobiography

EXPLORE BY CATEGORY

You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

I have lived down in the depths of the valley where it’s muddy with misfortune and sodden with the tears of trials, change, growth, and discovery.

But I have climbed to the top of life’s mountain and soared by grace on the wings of heaven. I have been lavished with blessing in a land of suffering. I have been given courage in the midst of fear, faith in doubt, solace in the midst of pain.

My autobiography is filled with countless failures and darkened by a shadow I have yet to master. But redemption sits intertwined with tragedy.

There’s no “happily ever after”. Each and every day is a potential disaster. But each day also holds the promise of a new chapter solely because of the grace of God.

  1. Well said, life is all about choices and their consequences, good or bad. We have to ask ourselves, is this what God would want for my life and choose wisely 🙏🏽

    1. That’s an excellent way of looking at it! And often when we let God lead it can sometimes look like he’s leading us away from where we think we should be going. Even when we think we’re lost, he has a plan that leads us exactly right where we’re meant to be at exactly the right time even if it takes us years to understand and have an “aha” moment.

    1. Thank you! I appreciate you reading.
