Describe one positive change you have made in your life.
…beginning to believe and understand that every human being is wounded in some way.
We (or at least I) tend to sometimes assume that everyone else has their life together and that I’m just weak or flawed in some way. I am flawed. But so is everyone else. I may not be able to hide it as well. I may even be more aware of my deficiencies because I have more in some areas and a heightened self-awareness.
We have a tendency to fixate on the surface of other people’s lives or judge their inner being based on their outer shell. The two usually have no correlation. Look at Hollywood. Lots of beautiful people with all the money in the world. And lots are miserable, more so even than the average person.
This revelation also brings more grace and mercy into your life–both for yourself and for others. Because as long as you assume others have their life together you assume all the hurtful actions they do are purposeful, intentional attacks instead of deep wounds that are seeping out into those around them. That doesn’t mean they get a free pass. It just means that we can give more mercy because we realize that others are hurting just like we are.
We are all lost, broken people just trying to find our place in the world. The sooner you figure this out the more the world makes sense.
