Bald Eagle Haiku Poem: Grace Above the Lake

Nature-Inspired Bald Eagle Haiku – Grace Above the Lake

I remember when it once was extremely rare to see a bald eagle. I’ve seen more over the last few years than the rest of my life. A few weekends ago, my family and I were camping near a lake and saw quite a few flying over while fishing. It’s commanding and graceful simultaneously. This haiku was inspired by observing the bird’s beauty by the lakeshore.

Eagle exudes grace
high above the lake’s water—
majestic killer.

Nature Reflection

The bald eagle is often reduced to symbol, such as freedom, strength, and nation, especially in the United States. But before all human meanings, it’s simply a bird carved out of the wild by nature. Its glide appears noble to us because we admire mastery. Its hunt appears harsh because we prefer to forget what sustains life. The eagle reminds us that grace is not always gentle. Sometimes grace wears talons.

Watching one circle above a lake can feel almost spiritual. Silence below, motion above. A creature so large moving with such ease seems to suspend the ordinary world for a moment. And it’s beautiful to behold.
