Change – A Poem About Adapting to the Seasons of Life

EXPLORE BY CATEGORY
Change

Observing the seasons is a reminder
that life's only constant is change,
and if you're staying the same,
you're dying
you're falling
you're fading
like ink soaked by spilled water -
unrecognizable, incomprehensible,
and erased from the book of life.

Open your eyes to the marvel around you.
Join in the song and dance of the living.
Approach the floor with enthusiasm
when life undoubtedly changes beat.
Just be ready to adjust the rhythm of your feet.
Remember it's not the fittest who survive
but the most adaptable.
The only constant of life is change,
and if you're staying the same,
you're dying.

Hello Justin, I just found your beautiful poem The Light Which Shines in ~The Dark and found it very moving. May I use it for members of a small closed poetry group who would find it really beneficial at this time. I want to start the New Year with poems about Light to uplift their spirits as I have with other poetry since the Pandemic began. We are all Senior Citizens belong to an organisation called The University of The Third Age. Thank you for your tips about meditation. I shall mention your book if I post this poem.
    Best wishes,
    Judith Dexter (Mrs.)
