Woman – A Love Poem For Her

Woman – A Love Poem For Her

You are like the waves lapping against the shore –
Repetitive, seductive, intoxicating, cleansing
Like holy water that wrings out the darkness.

I sit unceasingly upon the sands of time
Waiting for the rise of your tide,
To feel your waters once more by my side.
Staring off into the drab, gray horizon,
I admire flocks of sea gulls.
Only for a moment, but never long enough
To loose sight of your ebb and flow.

Woman is an ocean –
An endless vessel of mystery.
Who knows the measure of your depths?
Who can see the floor of your soul?
We all float in safety as sailors in the bosom of your rest.

Your ripples are enough to rouse suspicion,
To know that beneath your surface currents rage.
But we all long to dive within your waters
And be nestled within the confines of your embrace.

Your seas are salty,
Yet our tongues still thirst for more.
A water that never satisfies,
But opens the flood gates of passion’s door.

You are like the waves lapping against the shore –
A sweeping hand seducing, gesturing
Us to step away from the safety of land.
Woman, you are the demise and prize
Of the heart of each and every man.

Like the Summer Wind – A Poem

462652631_e60bf9b338_b

Like the Summer Wind – A Poem

I yearn for you like the summer wind –
vast, cool, refreshing upon my cheek;
a shelter to soothe beneath the furnace of life’s heat.

Your character radiates and pierces
through the layers of lust surrounding my heart,
pushing foolish desires aside; shredding selfishness apart.

Your faith is a fortress –
a castle that contains a bounty of beauty;
an unfamiliar treasure invigorating. intriguing me.

Respect reflects from your resolve like an echo –
a lovely sonata to my ears,
finding all the melodies attractive that you hold dear.

Purity has never been pursued by me,
but you make it as arousing as naked flesh.
seductively strutting your sexuality within a soul of righteousness.

Romance flares up; sensuality beckons me
to brush your lips, to feel your kiss.
and have my hands caress and rub out all your loneliness.

You’ve got me on the hunt,
pursuing an prize I’ve never seen –
my bow is strung, my arrow nocked, and aimed for the heart of a queen.

I long for you like stars in a void of black –
hopeful, resilient, a lamplight to guide the way,
and your flames lick at my heart, burning to speak your name.

Looking For Eternal Love Poem – “The Wings of A Fighter”

The Wings of A Fighter – A Poem About Looking For Eternal Love

I’m looking for the wings of a fighter,
someone to take flight with
and who won’t turn back at the slightest breeze.
She need not be perfect and can have scars upon her,
she just must be resistant to whatever weather fortune brings.

I’m done floating on delicate bubbles,
quickly rising, but eager to pop.
I’m done dealing with skyline struggles,
pleading and begging just to keep from being dropped.

I’m looking for the wings of a fighter,
she may be bruised but absorbs life’s punches
without letting go of my hand.
When she’s afraid she clutches me tighter,
and her promises are solid ground, not suddenly swallowed by sand.

I’m done flying with fallen angels
who fiercely hold onto pride and careless ways.
I’m done rebuilding and mending halos
only to find they have no desire to reenter heaven’s gates.

I’m looking for the wings of a fighter
with feathers secure and ready for flight.
Someone who is not merely a glider,
but a partner who flaps her wings beside me,
raging and resisting against the black of night.

Leaving Home – A Love Poem About Rejection and Starting Over

Leaving Home – A Poem About Getting Rejected by a Lover

Leaving home and venturing alone
Out across the unfamiliar frontier.
The scenery and signposts are all unknown,
And my heart sags, burdened by hesitation and fear.

Traveling along tomorrow’s highway,
Musing over the miles left behind.
But when you’ve played every card there is to play,
Your eviction notice has been signed.

It’s no easy task to pack up the memories,
Pile your bags high with hopes of what you thought would be.
But when your heart is denied all entries,
It’s clear you’ve been rejected, not set free.

So now one set of footprints mark the journey
Where there once were two.
This road has become winding and curvy
At the thought of starting something new.

But I have no regrets nor reservations;
I did all that I could do.
I’m just weighted down by a trunk filled with frustrations
That I was not worth the fight for you.

I’ll travel on,
Knowing there’s an exit within my sight.
But my heart still worries how you’ll get along
Through your dark and arduous night.

My only concern is for your poor heart –
So blind and was never able to see.
I would have held your hand tightly through the dark,
But instead you’ve settled for misery.

Leaving home and venturing alone,
Determined to not let fear decide my fate.
Far better to blaze a path into the unknown
Than to remain comfortable and stagnate.

The Trouble With Love – A Poem

The Trouble With Love – A Poem

Why do I continually let people into my fragile heart
Who have no business being there?
Why do I continue to trust in the promise of love
When it only breeds deep wounds of despair?

“I Love You’s” are thrown around like hellos,
Promises given without the trace of honest intention.
My soul breaks and quakes in mournful bellows
Because of thoughtless decisions.

Can’t I ever find someone who is honest and true?
Can’t I ever find eyes that don’t lie –
Eyes that echo joy and laughter
But have secrets and deceit they sleep behind?

Is it really that hard to accept love
And not continually push against it and fight?
You can continue to play tug-of-war with your heart,
But you’re done playing it with mine.

Soul suckers sit out in the darkness
And wait for a decent man
That they can feast upon and sink their vicious claws into,
Clutching honest, beating hearts in their hands.

I guess they get off on causing chaos,
Casting their spells upon warm, caring hearts.
Then, when they’re done with their feast
They simply spit them back up and tear them apart.

Cower in your corners you tainted and jaded,
You frightened, gutless little girls.
If you can’t look love in the face,
Stay the hell out of men’s worlds.

Stay in your delusions. Remain in the past,
Bitching about what Daddy didn’t do for you.
It’s about time you moved on and grew up,
The only excuse you have now is you.

The trouble with love is we live in a world
Full of confused, soulless creatures,
Who never give a damn about anyone but themselves,
Who hide behind exhausted excuses,
Love to hitch a ride upon a caring back,
But have no intention of sticking around for the journey.

The trouble with love is that you first have to find someone
Who’s not simply out to break hearts and get off on playing games.
And in our world, selfishness reigns,
And worthy hearts dwindle everyday.

So where are you, love?
I thought I knew you
But you turned out to be just another
Coward and liar.
Love, I’m done chasing you.
You can come find me when your games are through,
Until then I’m smothering your fire.

Until I Met You – A Love Poem

Until I Met You – A Love Poem

The world stands still when I gaze
Into your eyes of blue.
Beloved, love was nothing more than
A foolish errand until the day that I met you.
‘Twas like an emerging butterfly
The way you transformed my soul.
Once inched along the ground,
Now fly since you’ve restored me whole.
The hands of time move slower
Each hour that finds us apart.
Your love plays louder each day
Through the chambers of my heart.
In my darkened night you brought
The light that led me on ’til morn’.
For in the beauty of your sight
The veil of darkness was torn.
Be not afraid, for the love
I have for you is true.
Love was nothing more than a dreamer’s desire
Until the day that I met you.

Love’s Wings – A Poem

Love’s Wings – A Poem

Imagine my surprise waking to find
My arms covered in feathers – now fully supported wings.
My voice like the sweetness of a sparrow,
Bellowed from a passionate heart that sings.
I flew through the sky with a lightness
My mind and body ever knew.
For love, my burden was lifted
The day that I met you.
The clouds, sky, and heavens
Seemed far within my grasp.
All comprehension of limitation
Was left lying in the past.
You gave my soul the freedom
To soar to heights higher than ever dreamed.
You are the North Star that leads and shines.
You are the queen that reigns supreme.
Eagles have not reached into the sky
As high as I have since finding you.
Heaven’s ceiling on a summer day
Bare not the depths of hue as your eyes of blue.
When I look into your eyes my soul and spirit flies
Into the great, vast cosmic space.
Pain, loneliness, and emptiness are erased without a trace.
You are a gift far greater than I believed
God would ever bring.
For you carry me higher than I ever thought possible
Flying with love’s wings.

Storms – A Love Poem

6763426527_c2538a4daa

Storms – A Love Poem

I am blown by your gale,
Caught up in a tempest
My heart is unable to resist.
Never has it known a love like this
Whose storms of passion
Leave me defenseless.

Your rains hail me from afar,
And the eyes of your storm summon me.
My soul is a lightning rod
For your flashes of electricity –
A static seduction shocking me
With your every touch.

You clutch me in your madness
And soak me in down pours of sexuality,
Leaving me wet and wanting to strip
Off my heavy and soggy clothes.
Your wind blows like a cyclone –
A twister that destroys every defense
In the path to my heart.

You, love, have torn my walls apart.
I stand without shelter
And no longer have the ability
To withstand your weather.
For your beauty has weakened my resistance,
And your thunders have boomed,
Beckoning me to my knees.

My heart sees the looming storm,
But can only wait in delight
As the rain clouds come rolling in.
My heart beats anxiously,
Awaiting our eternal tryst.
For true love has known no stronger force
Than the passion between our kiss.

Love’s Admittance – A Love Poem

2544580905_6e609ed06c

Love’s Admittance – A Love Poem

A line in the sand was drawn –
Some invisible wall designed
To keep out the pangs of love.
But here you stand
Unscathed by my defenses, moving freely
Around the interior of my heart.

A thief I would gladly capture and exile,
But your garb is whiter than snow,
And you wear heaven’s smile on your brow.
My dogs do not bark and growl
With your entrance,
But wag their tails and leap to land
Kisses on your face
Desiring to taste the beauty of a zealous heart.

I do not know where you came from
Or which guard admitted you
Within my castle’s gates,
But I must thank them
For destiny dances in your eyes
And fate frolics in the sweetness of your lips.
My ever thought out and drawn out plans
Have become ad lib
And flow like free, fierce rapids
Surging towards its depository without control.

I do not know where this swift moving
River is carrying me,
But I float and drift without resistance
Accepting the inevitable drop and decent
Down love’s waterfall.
I do not cling to my old ways.
I do not arm myself and stand ready
To defend my freedom,
But gladly surrender the keys to my kingdom
And kneel at your feet.
For within your breast beats a heart
More beautiful than any I’ve ever seen.
You fill my cup.
You mend the broken whole.
Of you I can never drink enough.
Your waters invigorate your soul.

Something, Somehow, Somewhere, Somehow – A Love Poem

1467630395_33237e9594

Something, Somehow, Somewhere, Somehow – A Love Poem

Something about you soothes me
Like a long gulp of cool water
Down my parched throat.

Something about me moves you,
Some miraculous ability to keep your eyes
Blind to my mountains of misfortune.

Somehow you capture me,
Lasso my heart and rope me in
With the sweetness of your soul
And the warmth of your smile.

Somehow I woo you,
Speak in tongues only understood by your heart
Finding my quirkiness beautiful
And my thoughts like poetry in motion.

Somewhere we spend the days entrenched,
Enthralled in each other’s arms
Spending our hours embraced in kisses
And watching the curtain of day close
Behind the horizon and the sun depart.

Somewhere we sit engaged in conversation
Speaking the thoughts we thought unworthy for human ears
Sharing our fears and letting out
The madness of our souls we’ve tried
To remain caged for years.

Sometime we will share a dance,
A gentle swaying across the ballroom floor
Combining forces, casting out control,
And combusting as one.

Sometime we will see each other again,
And I for one will rejoice with delight.
So until then I feast on the memories
You and I shared last night.
